Portraits

Portraits! Why do I paint portraits? just a flow of my thoughts!

Let me say, that I am really attracted to showing someone's character through my perspective and feeling. I was always highly sensitive to a person's characteristics and temper. And I believe that through my creation I can deliver the feeling of a person, rather than the actual, identical outlook. Otherwise, we have cameras, and nothing else is needed. I love to portray strong emotions. Capture someone's moment in life. Something secret that I can connect to, and make the viewer connected.

My portraits are diverse, but I mainly portray women. Just because I simply find women more artistically interesting for myself. Especially as I woman, I can connect to the portrait the most. Very often I paint elderly women, and that Is an interest that I discovered way back. People that aged have a story on their faces that I like to discover. Those facial marks, scars, and skin folds come from incidents, stories, from strong emotions. Sometimes I see those old women inside myself. I highly respect them and want to capture their life experience in a simple portrait.

Just like with painting enlarged bodies, where I was very interested in the skin tone, and various hues that make the flesh and skin itself. The face has way more colour and "delicious" places to tackle with colours that we think we don't have. What? We are all made of beige, brown, and white? I see purple, green, and bright red. Oh, how I love, making the skin so full of colours. How I love to make freckles or moles so outstanding and eye-catching. That's what makes us - us! Those simple little things, shadows, and marks compose our faces and I want to put it all out there!

Another question is, who are those people? Who do I paint? If I have a chance, I will paint a friend or someone who I know. I painted myself a lot, as I was the only one there. But my life turned a certain way a couple of years ago when isolation made me try to find various different ways to find subjects for painting through other sources and not deal with copyright issues. And I almost compose people and create stories and characters for them.
